Cathedral Conservation Works 2015
On the 22 February 2016 the new Altar was dedicated in a solemn Mass at 7pm. The Mass was well attended including the presence of 10 bishops and over 30 priests.
Permanently sealed in the bronze reliquary are the carefully authenticated relics of St Hippolytus of Rome, priest and martyr (235); St Fabian, pope and martyr (250); St Dympna, virgin and martyr (7th century); St Fidelis of Sigmaringen, priest and martyr (1622); St Peter Chanel, priest and martyr (1841); and Blessed Jerzy Popieluszko, priest and martyr (1984).
