The Sacrament of Baptism

For the Baptism of adults, see our page on the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).  What follows concerns the baptism of infants and very young children.

Baptism of Children

Baptisms are celebrated in the Cathedral on a Sunday or other days by request.                                                                                Please contact the parish office to book a Baptism.  02 66260200 or email at [email protected]

School aged children for Baptism need to attend a program of lessons in preparation for Baptism.
Please contact the parish office for more information.

If a family from outside the parish requests Baptism at the cathedral they must have the permission of their parish priest.   In this case Baptismal preparation may be undertaken in their own parish.

Baptisms at  Dunoon or Goolmangar usually take place during the Masses . The procedure for arranging a Baptism and preparation is as above
